Gratitude Friday
Grateful for beautiful bright snow that actually stuck this time…
… for the sweet little details in my day to day
…for this guy, my love, who is so himself and great. (Oh yeah, and tolerant of my incessant picture-taking while he’s reading)
…for my girl, and for fresh apples in December.
…for my precious Maya, who turns 5 in just a couple of weeks!
Grateful for feeling a bit better (we all got colds right after that stomach bug- no fun!), for hot tea, for music, and for today.
Oh, and for this poem:
Wild Geese
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.
(Mary Oliver)
What are you grateful for today?

For a whole day spent outside in the cold crisp winter with my beautiful little man 🙂
Yay! He must be so big now. Miss your posts. 🙂
you’re writing such good stuff lately
Hey, thanks! I actually have been feeling a little less than inspired lately, so that’s good to hear. 🙂
I think our husbands would get on very well. Ty is Luthier, so woodworking is one of his favorite things ever. 🙂
I’m grateful for a warm home to shelter me from the winter storm we’re expected to get slammed with this weekend, for my warm husband, daughter, dog, and cats to snuggle up with, and for my delicious fair-trade spicy hot cocoa to keep my belly warm through it all.
I’m also very grateful that I got the promotion I applied for without even having to interview and will have paychecks coming in again soon!
