Gratitude Friday
Posted On October 22, 2010
I’m grateful for so many things today.
I’m grateful for these beautiful little children (pictured wearing leaf crowns that my sister made)…
… and for my new and beautiful wrap that my parents got me (thanks guys!)- without which I wouldn’t get half as much done.
…and for the beautiful place we visited today.
…and for this man, who continues to grow with me in our partnership. Through a bickering morning and a stressful drive, a whining toddler and a long day of walking (and lots of fun, of course). A man who, at the end of all that, inspires me to grab his hand and smile on the quiet drive home, feeling so together.
What are you grateful for today?

Aww, I love it!
I’m thankful for a less stressful day today than the last few have been. 🙂

I am grateful it’s Friday and I can relax. I am grateful for the cool weather and rain. I am grateful for my slow-cooker full of winter veggies and spices. I am grateful for Shaun, who always makes sure I don’t trip. (Because I am really clumsy.)

I’m grateful for my health in a household of coughs and colds 🙂
I adore your wrap! What is it? Also, do you have any good tutorials or directions for putting a small(er) baby in a back carry? I never got the hang of it with Ben and I really want to try again in the spring.
I hope you have a lovely evening.
It’s a Girasol 4.6m wrap. I did find a good video, but I found I like doing the “double hammock” carry for the back, it’s a bit easier and just as sturdy. I’d be happy to show you- but also, since you’re local you could check out the ann arbor babywearer’s group. My friend Becca runs it, and people seem to really love it. I still have to go, but I’ll probably show up in the next week or two to learn new wraps.

Here’s a good video I just found:
It goes really fast once you’ve done it a couple of times. The only thing she didn’t show is that you want to put baby just about a foot off center (which is why she references a longer end), and want little baby’s head up by your neck, and you also don’t put the wrap under baby’s legs when they are little, you just cross over top of them for that last step. I hope that all made sense!
Yes, I think it all made sense (too bad I don’t have a little one to practice on) and I’m going to bookmark this post so I can go back and find it later on! Thank you.
And that wrap is OMG-gorgeous!!

Beautiful wrap!!
I’m grateful for a happy Friday with the Beeb, for finishing good books and starting a new one. I’m grateful for my loving friends and a whole weekend ahead of me with my lovah. 😀

I’m grateful for this beautiful month, Eilidh’s joyful nature, carving pumpkins with my sweet little girl, these new flutters of life in my belly, and an old friend who’s letters never fail to give me a little thrill, even after over 18 years of correspondence:)
that wrap looks great, is it fast/easy to get into?I’m considering making or buying a mei tai for this new one, as an alternative to the sling I have now. I saw a pattern for a no-sew one, made of thick fleece…looked about my skill-level,lol
Yep, it is really fast. I actually wasn’t that into this kind of wrapping before I actually tried it. I thought it looked beautiful, but also more involved than I wanted. BUT, I have to say, having done it and carried baby in it (both front and back), I’m a convert. For a small baby, I’d definitely recommend this style of wrap. It’s much more secure than the Moby wrap- and it’s more supportive than a mei tai style. Plus it can totally grow with your baby and is just one long piece of fabric. This one that I have is a Girasol 4.6 meter. Those wraps are a bit pricey, but I sort of see why it’s worth the investment considering their qualities- they’re tightly woven but still have some give, they’re cotton and washable, one size fits all, not to mention lovely… but even if you couldn’t buy one, you could definitely get some really quality fabric at that length for a bit cheaper, and voila! I’ll use a mei tai style when he’s a bit bigger, but for now, the wrap is really my only option for putting him on my back and getting stuff done… kind of a lifesaver. So there’s my spiel! haha. 🙂 I am also happy to find/send videos of how to wrap baby if you’re interested.
It is lovely, definitely something to consider. I may try one in that style, too, though I’m still pretty convinced that a mei tai is something I want:)
Today I’m feeling extremely grateful to my mother, who drove four hours to come stay with me for a few days and help me get my house ready to be moved into. We spent the whole day sanding and cleaning and painting and running errands, and it was SO helpful to have her here to do it with me. So, major major gratitude to mom today!
Oh, congrats on your house! I’m so excited for you to start settling in to this new space. I can’t wait for a peek! (if you’ll give us one, of course)
I will definitely give you a peek! In fact, I’m anxious to post pictures, but we’re moving in exactly a week, and I’ve been feeling busy/scattered to post anything at all lately. But soon! 🙂
I am grateful that my student who was kicked in the eye yesterday at the soccer game will probably NOT lose his vision.
I’m grateful for liquid gold light poured over the reds and oranges and yellows spread out across the hills.
I am grateful for my really awesome friend who reminds me to take a moment to be grateful.
Oh wow! I’m grateful your student’s eye is okay, too! Yikes. You are lovely. I owe you a phone call. I have not forgotten!
Technically, its Saturday here but whatever. 😉
I’m grateful for my husband who will sit with the kids and read them a story before bedtime for 45 minutes after a long workday and lets me relax with the girl child.
Baby looks good on you! 😉
I’m grateful for my strong marriage, my kids who are really awesome people to hang out with, and for God’s change of plans for us… we aren’t adopting now, I’m pregnant! 🙂 It’s been 6 years that we’ve been open to another and it just never happened. I am now a cliche, we got all the way to the approval and were submitting our homestudy for several children and I found out.
That was me, I wasn’t logged in!
Wow congratulations!!! What a surprise that must’ve been. The kids must be so excited. Okay- you better start writing in that journal again, I’m missing those updates! Also, when are you due?
I’m grateful for the smile seeing your pictures has put on my face. 🙂
