WE WON!!!!
You know, I refrained from talking about politics here… I do that enough in real life. However, I am so thrilled on this early November morning that I can barely stand it. He won. These past years I’ve felt so plotted against, violated in so many ways, this victory just floors me. This is one of those times that I think I’ll remember for the rest of my life. We’ve made history, and I have great faith in what this man can do for us. I think he really wants to work for us, and that’s amazing. I’m so used to being skeptical and wondering who’s pocket they’re in. With Obama, I really think that he’s made a change already- in us. It seems like everyone is affected by him, not just Americans. That’s just as important as anything else, and he’s not even president yet. I can tell you one thing, I feel patriotic for the first time in my life. Crazy.
Last night we had an election party with some friends. I made a big pot of chili and we all kept each other company during this big event. I think that it’s important to be an activist in your own life. Voting, well, it seems like the bare minimum to me. It’s a right that we haven’t always had, and I think that it begs for some respect and attention. I haven’t been the best, and I should vote in local stuff too- so I’m making a pledge to do better. Anyway, it was really nice to have a good group of people around me last night, all of us excited for change and our futures. It was good. I’m so proud of us today. I’m so proud of us for making our way out of this slump, together. Not to mention, OMG the first black president. How fucking cool. About time, eh?
Okay, so I’ll still get out my daily pictures soon, but I realized that I hadn’t yet really done my seasonal posting, so I decided to go the "I LOVE FALL" route today, in honor of all the ways in which change is a beautiful thing.

I’m really used to being sceptical too and whilst it all looks a little too slick and perfect to have me entirely convinced I’m allowing myself to have a little hope that this might actually be a change for the better. As an American citizen I think you’re entirely right to feel a little euphoria. If nothing else the sight of people actually turning out to vote and wanting to make things different was really heartening. Particularly after the debacle of past Bush elections where the man declared president didn’t actually even appear to win the election but everyone turned a blind eye anyway! I really hope this is at least a little of what it promises to be.

Yeah, every candidate is going to have his issues- no one is going to be perfect. I think that this one is important to us, however, because of the change that’s happening in all of us- like you said about people coming out to vote. I heard that there was a 90% turnout. We felt like we were swindled out of the last 8 years and we finally feel like it’s back in our hands again. Oddly enough, I’m kind of glad that Kerry didn’t win four years ago- then I don’t think we’d be where we are now and Obama wouldn’t have been nominated. Anyway, I’m sure there will be issues, but I know it’ll be a hell of a lot better than it’s been. 🙂 I’m glad you’re rooting for us!

I think this is an important moment in US history. If you like Obama or not, hey, a non white man is president. About damn time! It’s too bad they overturned the right to gay marriage in CA. Big bummer here. At least we got some farm animal love!

I know, I can’t believe it. I thought that one would be safe in CA. I am so saddened by that. I really feel like this is the next thing we have to fight against. That and birthing rights. ha.

Yay! I love fall. How is fall where you are?
…not very fall like! I mean we get subtle changes, i notice it more now after being here for 5 years then i did at first. but usually everything is so dry by the time it starts to cool off here (aka…sort of now..at least at night) that nothing turns pretty colors, it just turns brown. I miss the brightness of fall colors in MI. I’m thinking if i get my car fixed before the end of the month, i might try and take a trip to mountains and see some real foliage, that would be lovely.
